How it works

First, lightly used greywater from laundry, sinks, baths, and showers is collected for treatment. Then, in the Smart Bench and Treatment Planter, plants and microbes absorb and break down contaminants, cleaning the water for reuse. Finally, cleaned water is ready for non-potable reuse in toilet flushing, irrigation, and other select applications.

Frequently asked questions

Greywater is gently used water from sinks, showers, and washing machines. It does not include water from toilets. In most cases it does not include kitchen sinks, or dishwashers, though some states do allow these sources.

Recycled water from the Estuary is tested to meet international standards for non-potable use. It’s safe for toilet flushing and irrigation but not for drinking, bathing, or cooking.

Our authorized technicians can install and commission the system or we will provide you with the resources you need to do it yourself.

The Estuary needs:

  • Greywater inlet from baths/laundry
  • Overflow connection
  • Electrical power (120V)
  • Wi-Fi is optional but is needed for remote monitoring and service.

Annual preventive maintenance is recommended, you can do this yourself, or opt for service provided by an authorized technician.
